Japanese carmaker Nissan has unveiled a new steering system that interprets the intentions of driver from steering inputs and controls the tire movements of the vehicle through electronic signals.

The system is claimed to control and protect the vehicle from redundant road-generated disturbances and deliver only the required performance experience to the driver.

Japanese carmaker's steering technology incorporates a camera-based straight-line stability system which will enhance on-center driving capability by accurately tracing and continue as planned in the lane it is moving.

The system will act against the change in vehicle direction due to road surface or crosswinds by reducing effect of these conditions resulting in reduced steering input from the driver.

The new technology incorporates multiple electronic control units (ECU) that control even if single ECU malfunctions, while during major situations including power supply disruption, the backup clutch will mechanically connect the steering wheel and wheels of the vehicle.
