US carmaker Ford Motor is recalling 16,330 transit connect vans in the country over an issue with the wiper arms.

According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall is effective to the vans manufactured in 2011 and 2012, which were built at the company's Kocaeli facility in Turkey.

The affected vehicle's wiper arms may not be sufficiently riveted, which would lead to incomplete cleaning of the windshield, but further the wiper arm might detach and could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford said that its dealers will replace the driver and passenger windshield wipers and blade assemblies free of cost and the recall is expected to be notified next week.
