Japanese carmaker Nissan is planning to recall its 2012-2013 Altima sedans over a problem with bolts that have not been tightened during production that could increase risk of a crash.

About 13,919 units built at Nissan's Canton facility in Mississippi, US, between 10 May 2012 and 26 July 2012 are affected by recall, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

Expected to begin on 29 October 2012, the recall will not involve other Nissan or Infiniti models.

According to Nissan some vehicles were equipped with transverse link bolts and power steering rack bolts that were not tightened properly.
